I kept to a palatte of greens, yellows, and rich browns so the interior would please the eye when viewed as a whole.

The original Plans for this cottage were published in The Scale Cabinetmaker
in about 1987,
by the late Helen Dorsett.

I modified the plans to make the house in 1/2"= 1' scale, and to have an open back, rather than a four-sided enclosed house.

I made many mistakes on this house, my first attempt at hollow-core construction. But such cottages are meant to look quaint and sagging!

  • House has four rooms (living, kitchen, bedroom, bath) and a staircase hall.
  • The outside stucco is art paper, finished with matte sealer.
  • House is hollow core construction (1/4" board studs with sealed illustration board walls). Wiring is all inside the walls.
  • Almost all of the furnishings and accessories came from Mountain Miniatures, Scale Designs, or Auntie Em's (local mini shop).
  • Scroll down for pictures of the outside. Click on each link to see the rooms and descriptions of their contents.
