Foyer

(AZ State Day Project)

I built this box at the AZ State Day in November, 2002. It was my first State Day and it was a blast!!
  • We learned decopage (sideboard)
  • Marbleizing (floor)
  • and Gold leafing (purchased chair gold-leafed and reupholstered).
  • I finished the box at home: The walls are false--I wallpapered the original walls then did cutouts on mat board and fitted the mat board over the wallpaper, framing the cutouts so it looks like recessed panels.
  • The left and right wall panels are full-sized French panels I found on the Internet. I put the images through Paint Shop Pro, printed them and decopaged them to panels, which I then framed. The painting I printed on the color printer then gold-leafed the frame (see I learned something!).
  • The green potted plant is my first ever attempt at a plant not using a kit. Looks a bit like an alien!
  • The flowers on the table are a kit from Little Goodies.
  • The outside of the box is covered in heavy textured paper I found at my favorite art supply store.
I always wanted an elegant foyer and this is as close as I'll get. :-)
